# Email reply kit: the 4 C's (for Leigh)

Status: book pre-launch.
Who you are writing to: warm list people who already replied to your hello.
Goal: relationship first, waitlist second. One ask only.
Tone: giddy + kind + human. Personal, not perfect-professional.

## The 4 C's

### 1. Connect
Use their name. Mirror something they actually said. Make it obvious this note is for them.

### 2. Care
Acknowledge the feeling or blessing behind their words. Warmth first. Logistics second.

### 3. Context
One short line about why you are writing (the book is almost here, you thought of them). Keep it light. No pitch dump.

### 4. Call
One clear next step. Frame it as valuable TO THEM ("I think you might love…"). Waitlist only. Then stop and wait.

Skip one and the reply feels off. Stack three asks and it feels salesy. One ask. Build trust.

## Energy rules

- Giddy + kind + human beats polished + perfect.
- Match their length and tone. Short in, short out.
- Casual beats corporate. A little imperfect is fine.
- Never "I hope this finds you well." Never "circle back." Never "leverage."
- No em dashes.
- Never hard sell. Never list prices. Never push a call unless they ask.
- Compliment specifically. Generic praise feels fake.

## Inbox sorting (before you reply)

| Bucket | What it looks like | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Warm hello | Friendly check-in, blessing, "so glad to hear from you" | Full 4 C's. Soft waitlist ask. |
| Question | They ask about the book, brain health, your work | Answer plainly. Then one soft ask if it fits. |
| Already on list | They say they signed up / pre-ordered | Thank them. No second ask. Offer one tiny next step only if useful (Chapter 1 when ready, etc.). |
| Unsubscribe / stop | "Please remove me," "opt out" | Honor it fast. Kind one-liner. No ask. |
| Spam / weird | Sales pitch to you, bots, unrelated | Skip or archive. Do not engage. |

## How to use with AI

1. Paste the inbound email into your "Cat for Leigh" ChatGPT Project.
2. Say: "Draft a 4 C's reply. Soft waitlist only."
3. Read it out loud. Tweak anything that does not sound like you.
4. Send.

## Gold-standard sample: Charlena (placeholder gold draft)

**Inbound (Charlena):**
> Oh my gosh, hello and all is well with me. God has been good.

**Outbound (gold draft to refine):**

Hey Charlena!

Oh my gosh, hello right back. I loved reading this. God has been good over here too, and your note made me smile.

I have been thinking about the people who have been part of this journey with me, and you came to mind. My new book, Brain On Game On, is almost here, and I put together a quiet waitlist for friends who want first look + the bonuses.

I think you might love it. If you want a spot, you can hop on here:

No pressure at all. Just grateful we are connected.

Love,
Leigh

**Why this works**
- Connect: "hello right back" + mirrors her exact words.
- Care: honors the blessing without preaching.
- Context: book is almost here, she came to mind (true, personal).
- Call: one soft waitlist ask framed as valuable to her. Then stop.

**Refine later:** swap in the live waitlist URL, adjust any line that does not sound like Leigh's mouth, keep the giddy warmth.
